Enter Fantasy sports own trade association into the current probe of the Daily Fantasy Sports sector. The Fantasy Sports Trade Association (FSTA) has been subpoenaed by the Florida prosecutor’s office based out of Tampa.
It was announced just the other day that Florida Attorney General has launched an investigation into the DFS sector following allegations of insider trading. There are also questions as to whether DFS companies are breaking gambling laws in the state.
Representatives from the U.S. attorney’s office in Tampa couldn’t immediately be reached for comment by the Wall Street Journal, which first reported the news.
From the Wall Street Journal:
The subpoena ordered the association to produce copies of its board-meeting minutes, the person said. The government may be investigating potential antitrust violations or fraud among the large fantasy sports sites, the person said.
