Yankees centerfielder Jacoby Ellsbury makes for a decent roster pick Saturday versus Orioles starter Wei-Yin Chen though other variables must be considered before pulling the switch.
Ellsbury just hit 2-for-3 versus the Yankees his last game Friday and is batting an impressive .469 during the month of May.
Priced at around $4000, Ellsbury has hit 7-for-16 against Chen with one double.
Chen is 2-4 with a 5.18 ERA in 10 career starts against the Yankees, including a six-inning, two-run stint on April 13, and will be especially hungry for the victory here being that he is winless thus far. This is despite Chen having allowed a total of nine earned runs in his five starts.
Ellbury should be considered today but his price may be a bit tough to swallow considering the “Chen” factor we just described above.
Proceed with some degree of caution.
