Jake Arrieta is certainly a starting pitcher to consider for Monday’s play against Cincinnati despite the high price tag of $12800 (which is down $700 from June 11).
The Cubs and Arrieta are a huge -250 favorite, and that’s on the road against the struggling Reds.
Two strong factors come into play here.
First, an ace coming off a loss always deserves consideration, especially when facing a poor team like the Reds.
Second, and perhaps more importantly, Arrieta has clobbered this Reds lineup. He’s allowed just 15 hits off of 74 at bats with zero home runs.
In his last start, Arrieta walked four and gave up four hits as the Cubs were swept by St. Louis. Arrieta now stands 11-2 on the season with an ERA of 1.74.
