Responding to the shocking reports this week that a DraftKings employee had won $350,000 playing on a competing website, quite possibly with insider information, Major League Baseball – which owns a piece of DraftKings – issued the following statement.
“Major League Baseball has a policy that prohibits players and employees from participating in fantasy baseball games which prize money and other things of value are available to participants. We were surprised to learn that DraftKings had allowed its employees to participate in daily fantasy games. We have reached out and discussed this matter with them.”
DraftKings management is coming under increasing pressure from partners like the MLB and other investors to respond accordingly to this matter.
