NYC Crane Accident Nearly Takes Out Courthouse Where DFS Case is Being Heard

by | Feb 5, 2016 | Uncategorized | 0 comments

A crane has crashed within feet of the courthouse where Daily Fantasy Sports sites DraftKings and FanDuel are currently fighting to continue operating in the state of New York.

The accident, which occurred Friday morning, resulted in at least one death of an individual who was sitting in his car.  Two others have been injured.

The two Daily Fantasy Sports firms are fighting a challenge by New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s attempt to prevent both from operating there.  Hearings are scheduled throughout the next couple of months though nothing had been scheduled on this day.

The courthouse is located at 60 Centre Street, just feet away from where the crane had landed. It was evacuated out of fears of a gas leak.

The crane — which was swinging a wrecking ball — fell over at 40 Worth St. between West Broadway and Church Street in Tribeca at 8:24 a.m., crushing several cars parked along side the street.
