Series: Braves vs. Marlins
11-4 games have gone 8 or UNDER.
Pitching Matchup: Alex Wood (Atlanta) vs. Mat Latos (Miami)
Wood has only permitted 28 hits off of 111 at bats vs. Miami, resulting in a .252 ERA.
On the other side of the spectrum we have Latos allowing 29 hits off of 70 at bats.
He got beat up badly in Atlanta in his opener of the season but came back with a 3-run performance.
Four of the last six games Latos has started in have gone UNDER 8. He has not permitted more than 3 runs in his last six starts.
The main culprits here are Freddie Freeman, hitting a sick 10 off of 18 at bats with 4 extra bases and 7 RBIs. Chris Johnson, too, but he is on the DL.
Nick Markakis was 2-for-5 at bats against Latos.
Andrelton Simmons has hit 8 of his last 10 overall and is 4-for-7 against Latos with 2 RBIs.
The last two games of this series featuring Alex Wood as a starter have been winners with only two runs allowed.
Wood has surprisingly permitted 8 hits or more in four of seven starts this season. He is still seeking his first win since Apr. 7 and he should definitely be hungry for the victory here. Wood though has not gotten past the sixth inning. Four of seven games he started this season have gone OVER 8.
Dee Gordon has been uber hot of late and is 3-for-7 against Wood with an RBI.
We wouldn’t bet on this game necessarily but there are daily fantasy picks galore.
