DFS911.com has your Pirates vs. Cubs series daily fantasy sports plays for Sunday afternoon.
Pittsburgh’s AJ Bennett takes on the Cubs Jake Arrieta.
Burnett earned his second win of the season Tuesday, throwing seven innings of two-run ball (one earned) against the Phillies. He gave up six hits and a walk, striking out five.
He has allowed 37 hits on 92 at bats versus the current Chicago roster. This includes 16 RBIs. That said, Bennett is yet to permit more than 2 runs in any of his seven starts this season. Only the last two games he has started in have gone OVER 7. In the three games where he managed to pitch through the 7th inning, Chicago relievers did not surrender any additional runs. Failing to pitch into the 6th inning has resulted in Pirates relievers allowing at least one additional run. Bennett allowed 8 hits and one run earlier in the season versus Chicago.
Starlin Castro, who has hit in three of his last four games, has gone 15-for-32 against Bennett with 4 RBIs.
Migueal Montero continues to occupy the primary role behind the plate for Chicago. He is 4-for-7 vs. Bennett.
Prior to an outstanding performance against the Mets his last start, Arrieta allowed a combined eight runs in his two previous starts.
Arrieta only allowed a single run against Pittsburgh his last time facing them earlier in the season.
He has had great success against this current roster, allowing just 12 hits on 61 at bats. The relievers have held their own when Arrieta has started this season.
Arrieta may deserve a look for a starting pitcher today though there may be better options. He’s priced around $9500.
The Cubs have had some success against Pittsburgh this season.
