Alex Reimer, in a piece this week for Forbes.com, argues that the National Football League embracing of Daily Fantasy Sports crosses the lines of hypocrisy.
He cites the league’s efforts to shut down a Daily Fantasy Sports event slated for Las Vegas over the summer.
The NFL shut down Tony Romo’s fantasy football event in Las Vegas because it was going to be held at a convention center that’s attached to a casino. But this fall, Romo and other NFL players are welcome to become pitchmen for the daily fantasy sports startup, DraftKings. The hypocrisy is awe-inspiring.
On Tuesday it was announced that the NFL had inked a deal with DraftKings whereby players can now appear in ads for the leading DFS website.
