SEC Network Bans Daily Fantasy Sports Ads

In a sign that Daily Fantasy Sports is running afoul of some entities, the SEC Network announced this weekend that they would no longer permit DFS advertisements.

SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey:  “Is it a form of gambling, is it a form of skill game, I think there is some question about that,” Sankey said. “And I think the appropriate place for us to land as a conference on the SEC Network, again working with ESPN, is not to include that advertising on the network moving forward.”

“The federal government has determined, for the moment, that it’s not gambling,” said Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott. “But the NCAA has taken a position that we can set the rules and we don’t support it. So that’s where we’ve drawn the line.”

The SEC Network is affiliated with ESPN, which just happens to have entered into a multi-million dollar advertising deal with none other than leading Daily Fantasy Sports site DraftKings.
